Centre cancels CBSE class XII Board Exams

Earlier on Monday, the Centre had informed the Supreme Court that the final decision on the examination will be taken on June 01.

The Government of India on Tuesday cancelled the upcoming Class XII CBSE Board Exams after extensive consultation given the COVID situation in the country.

Announcing the cancellation Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth."

The PM also mentioned that given the stressful situation, students should not be forced to appear for the exams, and the government thought it appropriate to cancel the exams in the interest of the students.

Earlier on Monday, the Centre had informed the Supreme Court that the final decision on the examination will be taken on June 01.

On May 23, there was a high-level meeting wherein the officials from the Education Ministry discussed the various issues related to this year's CBSE class XII board exams.
