NEW DELHI:

The Supreme Court's oxygen audit team in a report has stated that the Delhi government exaggerated its oxygen requirement by four times at the peak of COVID-19 second wave.

The panel comprising of AIIMS Director Ratnadeep Guleria, Principal Home Secretary Bhupinder Bhalla, Max Healthcare Director Dr Sandeep Buddhiraja and Union Jal Shakti Joint Secretary Subodh Yadav submitted the report and stated that there was a gross discrepancy on calculated consumption as per the formula based on bed capacity.

The report further stated that the average consumption of oxygen in Delhi was between 284-372 MT, and the access supply to Delhi during the COVID crisis affected other states in need of oxygen.

Refuting the claim, the Delhi Government on Friday said that the report claiming inflated oxygen requirement in Delhi has not been approved by the SC Panel and the BJP is laying on the same.

"The members of the Supreme Court panel have not signed or approved the interim report on inflated oxygen requirement by Delhi," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
