NEW DELHI:
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), on Monday, successfully flight-tested a new generation nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile named Agni P from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha.
Sources in the Defence Ministry informed that the missile met all missions objectives with a high level of accuracy, hitting the target with pinpoint precision.
Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the long-range missile, as the missile followed text book trajectory before hitting the desired target.
According to the Defence Ministry, Agni P is a new generation advanced variant of the Agni class of missiles. It is a canisterised missile with a range capability between 1,000 and 2,000 kms, developed keeping in mind Pakistan's middle-range Gauri missile-an alleged variation of North Korea's Rodong-1 missile.
