India reports highest-ever spike with 3,79,257 new COVID-19 cases, 3,645 fatalities

India registered the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year, with 3,79,257 new cases and 3,645 fatalities in the past 24 hours alone.

India on Thursday registered the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year, with 3,79,257 new cases and 3,645 fatalities in the past 24 hours alone.


The total number of active cases now stands at 30,84,814.


Besides this, the country also reported 2,69,507 recoveries in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,50,86,878.


While the total COVID-19 tally stands at 1,83,76,524, as many as 2,04,832 have succumbed to the disease so far. 


Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that 28,44,71,979 samples were tested up to April 28, of which 17,68,190 were tested on Wednesday.


According to the Health Ministry, 15,00,20,648, were administered the COVID-19 vaccine.
