India registers 42,105 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, positivity rate at 2.27 pc

Though India's positivity rate remained below 3 per cent for 30 consecutive days, the country recorded 3,998 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, which is the highest reported in the past few days.

NEW DELHI:

With 42,105 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Wednesday, India witnessed a slight increase in the number of cases being reported daily, compared to Tuesday's figures.

Though India's positivity rate remained below 3 per cent for 30 consecutive days, the country recorded 3,998 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, which is the highest reported in the past few days.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the country registered 36,977 recoveries in the last 24 hours with a recovery rate of 97.2 per cent.

There are currently 4,07,170 active COVID cases in the country, a substantial decline since June, informed the Union Home Ministry.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), testing capacity across the country have been substantially ramped up, with 18,52,140 samples tested on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the Union Health Ministry also informed that a total of 41,54,72,455 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive.
