India records less than 50,000 COVID-19 cases for fifth consecutive day

India's recovery rate has improved to 97.01 per cent, with recoveries outnumbering new cases for the 50th consecutive day.

NEW DELHI:

India recorded 46,617 new COVID-19 cases with 853 fatalities in the last 24 hours on Friday.

According to the Union Health Ministry, this is the fifth consecutive day wherein India has recorded less than 50,000 COVID-19 cases, in addition to the decline in the fatality rate.

There are currently 5,09,637 active cases in the country now, the Union Health Ministry informed.

India's recovery rate has improved to 97.01 per cent, with recoveries outnumbering new cases for the 50th consecutive day.

India witnessed 59,384 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery tally to 2,95,48,302.

Meanwhile, the country has administered 34,00,76,232 vaccine doses under the nationwide vaccination drive, informed the Health Ministry.
