India records highest single-day spike of 4+ lakh new COVID-19 cases

NEW DELHI: 

India recorded the highest spike of COVID-19 cases in a single day since May 1, with 4,12,262 new cases and 3,980 fatalities being reported on Thursday.

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on May 6, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India is 2,10,77,410 and the death toll is 2,30,168.

As many as 3,72,115 people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours, taking the total vaccination tally to 15,99,83,139. 

At least 12,97,56,662 people have received their first dose and 3,02,26,477 got their second dose.
