India records 58,419 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, lowest in 81 days

The country also witnessed 1576 deaths and 87,619 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the data revealed.

NEW DELHI:

India recorded 58,419 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Sunday, which is the lowest reported in the last 81 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The country also witnessed 1576 deaths and 87,619 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the data revealed.

With Sunday's figure, the active caseload in the country stands at 7,29,243 COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate has remained below 5 per cent for 13 consecutive days. 

With a recovery rate of 96.27 per cent, recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 38th consecutive day.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 39,10,19,083 samples were tested for COVID-19 till June 19, of which 18,11,446 samples were tested on Saturday.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the country has administered a total of 27,66,93,572 vaccines doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
