India's COVID-19 active caseload below 8 lakh, positivity rates under 4%

More than 2.85 crore patients have recovered from the virus across the country so far.

NEW DELHI:

India's COVID-19 active caseload has declined to less than 8 lakh after 73 days, as the number of recoveries continued to increase day by day, the Union Health Ministry informed, on Friday.


The country has reported 62,480 new coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours which is the lowest after 74 days.


After 88,977 patients recovered on Thursday, the recovery rate has further increased to 96.03%.


More than 2.85 crore patients have recovered from the virus across the country so far.
 

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 reported in the Ministry data is 1,587. 


The weekly positivity rate and the daily positivity rate have come down to 4%, currently at 3.80% and 3.24%, respectively.


Meanwhile, the number of vaccine doses administered across the country under the nationwide vaccination drive has increased to 26.89 crores.
