India records 53,256 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, lowest spike in 88 days

The country also witnessed 1,422 COVID-related deaths and 78,190 recoveries within the same period, which has also seen a decline in the past few weeks.

COVID-19 infections continue to show a downward trend in India as the country recorded 53,256 new cases in the last 24 hours on Monday.

The country also witnessed 1,422 COVID-related deaths and 78,190 recoveries within the same period, which has also seen a decline in the past few weeks.

There are about 7,02,887 active COVID-19 cases in the country the Union Health Ministry informed.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the daily positivity rate in the country has gone down to 3.83 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is currently standing at 3.32 per cent.

Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 39th consecutive day and it currently stands at 96.36 per cent.

The union health ministry informed that a total of 28,00,36,898 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive which started in January.
