India records 38,164 COVID-19 cases, 499 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI:

India registered 38,164 new COVID-19 cases, including 499 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours on Monday, informed the Union Health Ministry.

With an increased recovery rate of 97.32 per cent, India also witnessed 38,660 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload further down to 4,21,665 cases, the ministry said.

The country has ramped up tracking, testing and treatment of COVID-19 patients, which has shown a substantial improvement in the decline in COVID positive cases.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the country has administered a total of 40,64,81,493 doses of COVID-19 vaccine under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Monday’s daily caseload is an improvement as it’s 2,993 less than Sunday’s figures when 41,157 infections were logged. The death toll has also seen a dip of 19 as opposed to Sunday’s numbers when 518 lost their lives due to the virus.
