NEW DELHI:

Amid the growing concerns over the second COVID-19 wave, India witnessed an unprecedented surge of 1,45,384 coronavirus cases on Saturday, the highest since the start of the pandemic.

States across the country have implemented night curfews and imposed restrictions following the fresh surge.

The active caseload in the country has now crossed the 10 lakh mark, with Maharashtra being the worst-hit state with 60 per cent of the total cases.

As uncertainty looms over the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases, many states might be forced to go into lockdown if the situation worsens.
