COVID-19 cases continue to decline in India, 1,65,553 cases in last 24 hours

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India on Sunday recorded the lowest single-day COVID-19 cases in the last 46 days.

With 1,65,553 fresh infections recorded in India in the last 24 hours, the country's daily COVID-19 cases continue to decline further, the Union Ministry informed on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India on Sunday recorded the lowest single-day COVID-19 cases in the last 46 days.

In addition to the daily cases, India reported 3,460 COVID related deaths in the last 24 hours on Sunday.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country has increased to 2,78,94,800, while the total COVID-related deaths have touched 3,25,972. 

The country positivity rate has gone down to 8.2 per cent, less than 10 per cent for the sixth consecutive day.

The county now has 21,14,508 active COVID-19 cases.

Daily recoveries in the country continue to outnumber the daily new cases for two weeks in a row, as India witnessed 2,76,309 fresh recoveries in the last 24 hours.

The recovery tally in India has reached 2,54,54,320 with a recovery rate of 91.24 per cent.

Meanwhile, the testing capacity in the country has substantially ramped up and over 34.3 crore tests have been done so far in the country.

According to the MoHFW, more than 21.2 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country since the commencement of the vaccination drive on January 16.
