CISF DG Subodh Kumar Jaiswal appointed as CBI chief

Jaiswal is currently the Director-General of the Central Industry Security Force (CISF).

NEW DELHI:

Senior IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was on Tuesday appointed as the new chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a term of two years. 

A 1985-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Maharashtra cadre, Jaiswal is currently the Director-General of the Central Industry Security Force (CISF). 

A Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led three-member selection committee had on Monday shortlisted his name for the post. 

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal had earlier served as the DGP of Maharashtra and also Commissioner of Mumbai Police. 

He was also part of the Intelligence Bureau and Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).
