Centre caps COVID-19 vaccine rates in private hospitals

The Ministry added that private hospitals may charge up to a maximum of ₹150 per dose as service charges.

The government on Tuesday has set the maximum price that private hospitals can charge for the three COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the country.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) on Tuesday, the price of Covishield has been fixed at Rs 780 per dose, Covaxin at Rs 1, 410 while the Russian vaccine Sputnik V at Rs 1, 145.

The Ministry added that private hospitals may charge up to a maximum of ₹150 per dose as service charges. 

The Ministry further requested States and Union Territories to regularly monitor the prices being charged by the private CVCs from the citizens.

Meanwhile, the Centre also informed that strict and necessary actions will be taken against any private vaccination centre charging more than the fixed rates.
