Leading websites from across the world face internet outage

NEW YORK:

On Tuesday, popular websites from around the world reported a global outage, with the home page showing an error when accessed.

Websites of the United Kingdom government, Reddit, video live streaming site Twitch, and those of major news outlets such as The New York Times, BBC News, The Financial Times and The Guardian were not accessible.

However, it could not be immediately confirmed as what led to the issue in the outage.

The website displayed 'Error 503' and the preliminary report suggested a technical glitch in a private Content Delivery Network (CDN) to be the reason behind the outage.
