JALALABAD:

An explosion killed two people and injured six others in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, on Wednesday.

According to Afghan media reports, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, and more details are awaited.

The attack comes after the Taliban attacked an Afghan security base on April 4 in Helmand province, killing 20 security personnel and wounding 14 others.

The string of attacks comes amid reports of the US planning a six-month extension for US troops stationed in Afghanistan.

The US had earlier set May 1 as the deadline to withdraw all US forces from the war-ravaged country.
