NEW DELHI:

The Serum Institute-manufactured Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine has been put on the list of approved vaccines by eight European Union countries, making it easier for Indians to fly to these countries.

The countries that have approved the vaccine include Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Iceland, Ireland and Spain.

The approval means those inoculated with COVISHIELD will be exempted from travel curbs in these countries.

The approval comes a day after India formally requested European Union member states to include both COVISHIELD and COVAXIN in their exemption list for the passport on a reciprocal basis.

India had said that it would not accept EU approved list of vaccines until Indian vaccines are accepted by the European Union member states.
