Meghalaya: Cyclonic storm wreaks havoc in Ri Bhoi district

SHILLONG:

A severe hailstorm accompanied by strong winds lashed parts of Ri Bhoi district on Thursday, leaving 4 civilians and  2 police persons injured.

According to official sources, Jirang C&RD block was severely affected, including the villages of Warmawsaw, Mawskei Lum, Mawskei Them, Umkynsier, Pathar Dharo, Umiap Khla and others.

In Jirang C&RD Block, the cyclonic storm affected the Umkynsier area, where 4 civilians met with injuries and were rushed for treatment. 

It may be mentioned that the storm affected the 6th Battalion Camp at Umran Niangbyrnai where two police personnel sustained minor injuries.

However, until filing of this report, the exact damages are yet to be found out.
