IMPHAL:

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, on Thursday, laid the foundation stone for two women's markets at Sekmai and Kanglatongbi town in Imphal West.

While laying the foundation stone, Singh informed that the markets would help the women of different communities in the area to pursue their commercial activities with ease.

Women can now engage in economic activities and become self-reliant.

Under the government scheme, seven markets have already been inaugurated and are functioning in the hill districts of Manipur, while 16 similar markers would be set up soon.

The CM informed that the primary motive of establishing such markets is to empower women in the state.
