Tripura: No compromise should be shown to criminal elements, says CM Deb

AGARTALA, July 25, 2018: With increase crime rates in Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had issued warning against anti-social elements on Monday and had said that his government would show zero-compromise towards crimes.

On Monday, while addressing a review meeting on law and order of West Tripura district at state secretariat, Deb said that the incumbent BJP-IPFT government will not interfere with police work and give full operational freedom.

"No compromise should be shown to criminal elements. If any police officer fails to render his/her duties properly, we shall not tolerate such laxes," Deb said.

Earlier on June 16, Tripura police launched 14 GPS-enabled patrol vans for better monitoring of security situation.

Regarding border security issues, Deb had said that the police should be pro-active along with the BSF. He said patrolling should be beefed up along the Indo-Bangla international border.

Tripura shares 856km-long border with Bangladesh. Patches of the border are still unfenced, especially at Sipahijala and Dhalai districts, because of alignment issues.

Deb on Tuesday urged police officials to build a strong coordination with general public.

For several years, state police has been running its flagship public contact campaign Prayas. Deb asked officials to increase the activities under the scheme.
