Tripura: Flood situation continues in state; over 5000 people in relief camps

AGARTALA, June 18, 2018: Over 5000 people including women and children have been shifted to relief camps due to heavy flood in West Tripura. Due to continuous rainfall, the water level of Howrah river has risen up creating havoc in the near by areas of Tripura.

A team of NRDF and civil defence officers have also been sent to assess the flood loss, including individual houses and property to provide due compensation to the affected people. Currently, 12 relief camps have been set up in the west district.

According to Meteorological Department, 74.2 mm rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours in the capital city.  The state is also expected to witness heavy rainfall and winds in the next 48 hours.
