The PWD has deployed its experts and two bulldozers on narrow NH 10 to cup open the hills and widen the surface after about 20 mts metal road surface at 29th Mile between Ramvi and Teesta Bazaar was washed away into the turbulent waters around 1140 hours on Thursday following rains.

The damage portion falls under the Kalimpong district of West Bengal, that cut off landlocked Sikkim and Kalimpong town from the rest of the country. Nearly 80 percent of the wide road had been caved in following rains.
The area has also Teesta Hydel power station and dams.
