Silent Ode to Your Memory
By Preetty Chambugong Marak
Suddenly I felt your presence
Just like how we use to be together before
You would call my name and sing songs for me
We would laugh together at made up jokes
Suddenly I felt your presence
Just how beaming we were together before
You would prepare coffee along with snacks
We would eat together at cafes and shops
How we used to share every tiny bit of food
Suddenly I felt your presence
Just like the day you left me behind
You said things that were unpleasant and erratic
We were just angry and resentful at each other
We were at the edge of being torn apart
Suddenly I felt your presence
Just how I shed a tear striving to be strong
Desiderate that you would look back
Hoping that you would just come back as I wail
And wishing for all this, to be just a nightmare!
