The CAG report against the backdrop of a startling revelation detected suspected misappropriation/diversion of scholarship funds under technical education department, the All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has demanded from the Directorate of Technical Education a detailed report in black and white within five days on the misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds.

In a representation to the director directorate technical education, ANCSU vice president, Benjong Longchar, and general secretary, Vimeyiekho Vitso, stated the union would not accept any other reasons or excuses except its demands. Failure to meet its demands, ANCSU said it would be compelled to initiate the necessary course of action.

ANCSU said misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds amounting to crores was "a direct insult to the student community."

Stating that the department had no right to divert the fund meant only for payment of scholarship to the deserving students, ANCSU said it was astounded by "day-light robbery being boldly practised by the officials". The union, however, affirmed that it would leave no stone unturned to deliver justice to the student community.

ANCSU also demanded that the responsible "erring officials" involved in the misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds be booked as per the law.

Asserting that ANCSU has been repeatedly apprising the state government and the department for proper implementation of scholarship schemes since past many years, the union expressed bewilderment and asked: "whether the directorate of technical education is for or against the interest of the student community?"
