Meghalaya: Rash driving leaves 17 people injured in Shillong

In yet another case of rash driving, 17 people sustained injuries and three vehicles were damaged in an accident which took place at Mawlai Mawiong Rim in Shillong on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, one private vehicle –Ertiga  (ML 05 N 4205) was on its way to Shillong from Guwahati and on reaching Mawiong Rim, the driver overtook one Truck (ML 05 6994) in a rash and negligent manner. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went and hit one electric post. The incident happened on today at around 12.50 pm.

Whereas a Bus (ML 06 3370), which was proceeding from Shillong towards Guwahati, on seeing the said Ertiga which was overtaking dangerously, the driver of the said Bus lost control of his vehicle and dashed against the truck coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of which, all the three vehicles were damaged, drivers of all the vehicles and passengers of the Bus who sustained injuries were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital by EMRI108 ambulance. It was informed that out the 17 injured persons, six of them (3-males and 3 females) got admitted in the hospital.
