In yet another recovery, the East Garo Hills police on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of hidden arms and ammunition in the district. The current recovery is the eighth such instance over the past three months.
The recovery today took place in the village of Dorenkigre, a village which has been a long time stronghold of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and its now deceased commander in chief – Sohan D Shira.
Police sources said that amongst recoveries today, one of the guns may belong to the police and had been taken in an ambush, though the matter is yet to be confirmed.
