Manipur: This village still survives on kerosene lamps and candle light!

A village in Thoubal district's Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency is still living on the light of candle and kerosene lamps electricity.

People residing in the Hangoipat village live in a dilapidated condition. They are forced to read in candlelight. This has also taken a toll on the education of the children.

This village has 30 households with a population around 150 electorates excluding children. Deprived of one of the most important basic amenities of modern life, the villagers are using candles and kerosene lamps to light up their homes.

Students in the village have no other option but to study without electric lights. Most villagers work as laborers at the nearby brick fields for their livelihood.
