“dejected” and “betrayed and reduced to a Rubber stamp” By PM Modi ?, Union Cabinet Minister Kushwaha Resigns

 |

In a major development Union Cabinet Minister and prominent leader from Bihar  Upendra Kushwaha resigned from the Union council of ministers and walked out of the BJP-led NDA .

"The biggest humiliation was done by Shri Nitish Kumar in the presence of Shri Sushil Modi by using the word 'Neech' [lower class] for me. The way the BJP State unit supported Mr. Kumar on the statement has led to unhappiness among the masses," Kushwaha Added in his resignation

This comes after months of bickering between the Cabinet Minister and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar .The BJP alliance government along with Kushwaha RLSP were allies despite Nitish Kumar and Kushwaha being traditional enemies .

"You (referring to Prime Minister Modi) have systematically dismantled the functioning of the Cabinet of the government that is mandated in our constitution. The Union Cabinet has been reduced to a rubber stamp, simply endorsing your decision without any deliberation. Ministers and officers posted in ministries have become figureheads as virtually all decisions are taken by you, your office, and the BJP president [which is unconstitutional]," Mr. Kushwaha said in his resignation letter, made available to the press.

It is likely that Kushwaha will meet Rahul Gandhi later and will join the Congress .The BJP /JDU alliance will face a tough fight due to a resurgent RJD led by Tejaswi Yadav and Congress along with BJP dissenter Kirti Azad and Shatrughan Sinha .
