Assam: Teacher held for demanding bribe from differently-abled in state

GUWAHATI, August 2, 2018: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption arrested an assistant teacher of Sonapur Pathar LP School, on Wednesday in connection of cheating with differently-abled youths.

A team led by a DSP rank officer, based on FIR apprehended, one Paramananda Rai while accepting bribe from the complainant, Md Ali Hussain, a differently-abled person.

The accused was caught when he was accepting an amount of Rs. 12,000 in Guwahati, Supermarket area.

As per to the police, the accused had been using his position and have been exploiting many disabled students by promising to offer jobs to them.

A case has been filed under ACB PS c/n 17/2018 u/s 7(a)/13 (1)(d) /13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018, dated on 1st August, has been registered.

The accused shall be produced in Special Court on Thursday.
