Assam | Statue of Don Bosco desecrated by miscreants in Tezpur

GUWAHATI | October 3, 2018:

In an incident of vandalism, the statue of Don Bosco on September 29 at night was vandalized by unknown miscreants in front of the Bishop's House in Tezpur, Assam.

The Assam Christian Forum, expressing shock over the vandalism of the statue, hoped that the police would book the culprits soon to restore the faith and security of the Christian community.

"It's unfortunate that such an incident happened in Tezpur, which is Assam's cultural capital," Allen Brooks, the forum's spokesperson said.

The forum recalled a similar incident in Guwahati a couple of years ago. Opposition from certain groups forced the Guwahati Catholic Province to shift the statue of Don Bosco from a public place to inside the Provincial House.
