GUWAHATI, June 27, 2018: In a shocking incident, body of a seventeen-year-old boy was recovered from a swimming pool at Zaloni Club on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Tusharjit Saikia.

Sources said Tusharjit Saikia, the son of OIL official Debajyoti Saikia was a resident of housing colony quarter No. DX-40 and a Class XI commerce student of Duliajan Delhi Public School in Dibrugarh district, went swimming after his mother and sister returned from the club around 6pm on Monday, saying he would return home late.

When it was quite late, his parents tried to contact him over his mobile phone. After several futile attempts, it was finally answered by an office-bearer of the club who said Tusharjit's clothes and bicycle were spotted near the swimming pool but there was no sign of the youth.

Tusharjit's father, Debajyoti Saikia, rushed to the club and subsequently a swimmer recovered the boy's body from the swimming pool.

The body has been sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, for post-mortem. Saikia lodged an FIR at Duliajan police station on Tuesday morning.

The officer-in-charge of the police station, Iswar Singh, said they were awaiting the post-mortem report before they could say anything.
