Assam: Sal logs worth Rs 75 lakh seized in Dhubri

GUWAHATI, May 28, 2018: On Saturday evening, a joint team of district administration and police, led by Chapar circle officer Nabajit Pathak, raided an illegal sawmill at Falimari village in Dhubri district and seized over 500 sal logs.

The seized timber is valued at around Rs 75 lakh.

Pathak said based on information from locals, they raided the sawmill and seized a huge consignment of sal logs.

He said the officials of Bongaigaon forest division also visited the spot after they were informed about the mill, which falls under its jurisdiction.

The steps taken by Pathak was appreciated by Bilasipara subdivisional officer Rohan Kumar Jha who also visited the spot.
