GUWAHATI, May 25, 2018: On Thursday, Dibrugarh police files a supplementary chargesheet against six accused in the APSC cash-for-jobs scam.

The chargesheet, submitted in a special court, Assam, names Rituraj Gogoi, revenue circle officer of Dhakuakhana, Kaushik Kalita, deputy superintendent of police of 26 IRBN, South Salmara, Satyajit Sarkar, assistant employment officer of Majuli, Abhishek Borbora, inspector of excise, Rangiya, Barnali Devi, inspector of taxes in Nalbari, and Joydev Mahanta, circle officer of Bajali. This is the fifth chargesheet filed by the police in this case.

These officers, who had appeared for the combined competitive examination, 2013, and were appointed in 2015, were arrested on March 28 this year after discrepancies were allegedly found in their answer scripts, which were seized from the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) office here and sent for forensic test.

A source said Assam Civil Service officer Sanjan Phukan and Assam Police Service officer Debabrata Dey may turn approvers.

He also said Dibrugarh police will record the statement of Kaushik Kalita's estranged wife Rupa Moni under Section 164 CrPC. Police suspect she wrote Kalita's answer scripts. They had also collected her handwriting samples.

Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday told reporters that in the APSC scam, besides the chairman (Rakesh Kumar Paul) and two members (Samedur Rahman and Basanta Doley), 20 state civil service officers, seven state police service officers, nine allied service officers and five other employees of APSC have been arrested.
