Assam earthquake damages buildings, 1 killed in West Bengal

GUWAHATI | September 13, 2018:

An earthquake had taken place on Wednesday morning with a magnitude measuring 5.5 and the epicenter being at Kokrajhar, Assam.

The tremors of the earthquake were also felt in the neighboring states including Meghalaya, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

In Assam, the quake-damaged buildings in many places across Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri districts.

The tremors felt in Bengal's Siliguri had triggered the panic that led to the accidental death of a 22-year-old youth at Binoypara in the town's Santinagar locality. The quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale was also felt in Kolkata.
