Assam | 7 arrested in drug charges; 1 absconding in Golaghat district

GUWAHATI | September 14, 2018:

On Sunday, a team of police along with Border Magistrate Pranjit Kumar Deb, AASU activists and a team of media.  raided a house and seized a large quantity of cocaine in Golaghat district, Assam.

Eight arrested were identified as Sujit Mazumdar (31), Hassan Ali (21), Mainul Ali (46), Nasin Ali (34), Saju Hussian (23), Kishan Deb (20), Rajesh Biswas (24), Rahimjan Begum (38), and Hamid Ali alias Dudul Ali (38).

According to the police, the main accused Hamid Ali also known as Dudul is a drug trafficker who used to supply the contraband to the other arrested persons. Hamid managed to escape from police custody at Barpathar police station and police are looking for him.

Meanwhile, AASU activists protested in front of the gate of Barpathar police station on Wednesday and demanded immediate suspension of officer-in-charge Bholaram Bora. They alleged that OC Bholaram Bora helped Hamid Ali escape from police custody.
