Assam: 23-year-old from Majuli raped in Panjabari, one held

GUWAHATI, July 30, 2018: One person has been arrested by Satgaon police for allegedly raping a girl.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Doloi, 28-years-old from Dhakuakhana, Lakhimpur district, Assam.

It was known that the accused had come to his sister's house in Kankan Nagar, Panjabari. In the meantime, the victim, a 23-year-old girl from Majuli, too, had come to stay with her relatives in Kankan Nagar.

The accused allegedly befriended the girl and invited her to his sister's house on 27th July, Friday where he raped her. The accused then threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the crime.

Later the girl had informed the locals about the incident and later file a police complaint based on which the accused Sunil Doloi was arrested from Kankan Nagar.

Police have registered a case 488/376/506 under IPC.
