Weather Warning in Northeast India; IMD issues orange alert till March 31

GUWAHATI:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a press release on March 30 stated that because of cyclonic circulation lying over west Assam and its neighbourhood and under the influence of strong low-level south-westerlies from the Bay of Bengal, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/thundersquall/lightning and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places are likely over Northeast India from March 30 to April 1.

Isolated heavy to very heavy falls on March 30 and isolated heavy falls on March 31 are very likely over south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. Isolated heavy falls are likely over Arunachal Pradesh on March 31 to April 1, stated the press release.
