Tripura: TIPRA chief Pradyot Manikya and candidate attacked

Meanwhile, unconfirmed sources said that there was a huge clash between TIPRA Motha and BJP supporters outside the SDM office.

Tripura royal scion and Chairman of TIPRA Motha, Pradyot Manikya Debbarman was attacked on Friday evening at Mohanpur SDM (Sub-divisional Magistrate) office.

The Mohanpur SDM office was also vandalised.

Sources informed that TIPRA candidate from Bodhjangnagar-Wakinagar ADC constituency, Runiel Debbarma had gone to the Mohanpur SDM office to collect the identity card of his counting agents.

It was alleged that Identity cards were not issued in their names.

Later in the afternoon, Pradyot and Runiel went to the Mohanpur SDM office to raise the issue with the SDM and to collect the identity cards of their agents.

“But they were attacked as they approached the SDM office in the evening,” sources said.

Animesh Debbarma, general secretary of TIPRA Motha, alleged that BJP and IPFT supporters were involved in the attack.

“They took shelter inside the SDM office to save their lives,” sources added.

The IGP law and order was informed about the whole incident, and asked for TIPRA chief to be rescued from there.
