Tripura kicks off COVID-19 vaccination drive

Tripura kicks off COVID-19 vaccination programme in 17 places in eight districts on Saturday.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb officially launched the programme in Tripura from a Town Hall and has expressed his gratitude towards all the frontline Covid warriors.

"The first case of Covid was found in Tripura on April 6 last year.

The work done by doctors, nurses, health workers, cleaners during this time is unprecedented," Deb said.

"The Covid situation has taught us a lot. The most important thing is to develop a self-reliant mentality. State journalists have also played an important role. They have also helped to create awareness by serving the news on the risk of life. I thank all the frontline workers and the entire state for their cooperation. Your cooperation is also desirable in the coming days," he said.

"In the first phase, about 45,000 health workers will be vaccinated against Covid. In the second phase, about 90,000 field staff will be vaccinated. In the third phase, about nine lakh people will be vaccinated. Data collection for the third phase is underway. 2,200 places have been fixed for the third phase vaccination, where the vaccine can be given," Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura Mission Dr Siddhartha Jaiswal said.
