AGARTALA:

Tripura royal scion and chairman of The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Pradyot Manikya Debbarman bagged victory from the Takarajala-Jampuijala ADC constituency.

Manikya, the former president of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), is confident of TIPRA forming the next executive committee in the Autonomous District Council with the help of its ally - the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra.

Earlier, Manikya had invited its former ally, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) to form the EC in the ADC.

So far, the TIPRA-INPT alliance has secured 18 seats and, BJP bagged six. The IPFT and CPI(M) have not been able to seal the deal in any seat.

With 18 seats, there is a high chance for the TIPRA-INPT alliance to break the ruling streak of the CPI(M) in the ADC.

The Left has been in power in the ADC for 15 years.

Counting for the remaining seats is underway.
