Seventy-two-year-old woman assaulted in Tripura

Unknown miscreants attacked an elderly woman at her residence in Shibnagar, Tripura, on Thursday.

According to sources, three unknown miscreants entered the house of 72-year-old Bharti Roy, a retired teacher, assaulted her and looted Rs 50,000 before fleeing the scene. They also forced her to sign a blank sheet of paper.

Following the assault, Roy called her maid, who informed the police of the incident.

Roy is the wife of (L) Ranjit Kumar Roy and lives alone. She had one son who passed away recently, and sources believe that the assault was a plot to take possession of the house and property.
