Section 144 imposed in Tripura due to post poll violence

In the last three years, the people of the state of Tripura have witnessed violence in order to wipe out the opposition.

The district administration in Tripura has imposed Section 144 CrPC to prevent post poll violence.

On April 10 reports of sporadic violence were witnessed from different parts of the state.

The royal scion and Chairman of TIPRA Pradyot Kishore Debbarma appealed to the public to maintain peace.

Speaking to mediapersons after his victory, he said some reports of incidents have surfaced from some places, and if he comes across any of his party members who are involved in post poll violence, strict action will be taken against them.

It may be mentioned that in Khowai district, Section 144 has been imposed till April 13 whereas in West Tripura District for 24 hours and in South Tripura District for 48 hours in the ADC areas.
