Raval Hamendra Kumar to take charge as West Tripura DM

The decision was taken after West Tripura District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav wrote to State Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar requesting his relinquishment from the charge of DM and Collector till the inquiry stands dismissed.

The Director of Tripura Tourism, Raval Hamendra Kumar, will take charge as the West Tripura DM, Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced on Sunday. 

The decision was taken after West Tripura District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav wrote to State Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar requesting his relinquishment from the charge of DM and Collector till the inquiry stands dismissed.  

"The Government of Tripura has constituted a high-level Enquiry Committee to enquire into incidents which happened on the night of 26th April 2021 (where) marriage ceremonies were held in violation of the night curfew at Manikya Court & Golap Bagan, Agartala. In the interest of an impartial inquiry, I request for relinquishment of my charge as DM & Collector West Tripura District," the letter stated.  


Earlier, in a video that went viral on various social media platforms, the DM was witnessed conducting raids in marriage halls, disrupting the ceremony and showcasing his "unruly" conduct.
