AGARTALA:

At least 31 COVID positive patients fled from the Panchayat Raj Training Institute (PRTI) Covid Care Centre at Arundhuti Nagar in West Tripura district on Wednesday night.

“The matter is now under investigation,” Sadar Subdivisional Police Officer Anirban Das said.

“We have informed the police station and railway stations. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been put on alert up to Guwahati since most of them are residents of other states,” he said.

According to West Tripura District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav, the truants had come from various states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal to take part in the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) recruitment rally.

“We have their addresses and mobile numbers. We traced the location of the escapees, but they have left Tripura. We have registered an FIR against them,” he said.
