Sikkim reports 54 fresh COVID-19 cases

With the new cases, the state's tally now stands at 6,405, with 5,983 recoveries, 169 active cases and 136 fatalities.

Sikkim reported 54 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Monday, of which 10 are tourists, a bulletin issued by the Health Department said.


With the new cases, the state's tally now stands at 6,405, with 5,983 recoveries, 169 active cases and 136 fatalities.


According to sources, the tourists who were said to be COVID-19 positive are untraceable, and the Health Department is trying to track them down.


Meanwhile, four MLAs from Sikkim who recently returned from a Gujarat tour after the 'Dandi March' event also tested positive.


We may note that the Sikkim Government had earlier issued new guidelines to tourists and returnees from other states, asking them to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
