Sikkim: Minister reviews healthcare infrastructures at Thangu

GANGTOK, July 25, 2018: Health minister A.K. Ghatani in an official visit to North district inspected the ongoing construction works of the health acclimatization center at Thangu today.

The centre funded under Border Area Development fund would function as an emergency relief centre to the tourists and pilgrims proceeding towards Gurudongmar Lake, an IPR release from Mangan informs.

On reaching Mangan in the evening, the minister visited the construction site of the newly sanctioned 100-bedded District Hospital and also inspected the newly constructed trauma and emergency center and blood bank at Mangan.

The blood bank which will be the first of its kind in the State is nearing completion and will have all modern amenities.

Minister Ghatani also visited the newly constructed TB hospital which is now functioning as a temporary hospital and reviewed the staff position in the hospital. He appreciated that the hospital was well maintained and stated that shortage of medical specialist will be addressed.

Since the hospital has all the amenities and infrastructure, the medical specialist will be posted soon for providing services to the public, he added.

The minister interacted with the patients of the hospital. He was accompanied by Health secretary Vishal Chauhan, director Dr. Uttam Pradhan and other officials.
