Sikkim government announces partial lockdown from May 6

The Home Department issued an order on Monday to impose a partial lockdown in the state starting from May 6 to 16, 2021, during which many restrictions will be put in place.

The Sikkim government has decided to impose a partial lockdown in Sikkim from May 6 to contain the spread of the COVID virus in the state.

The Home Department issued an order on Monday to impose a partial lockdown in the state starting from May 6 to 16, 2021, during which many restrictions will be put in place.

The restrictions include a ban on vehicular movements and travellers from other states, prohibition on inter-district movement, night curfew from 5 pm to 9 am, and closure of all government offices and PSUs till May 16, 2021.

However, the restriction does not apply to army and security personnel, commercial transportation, health department, police and fire services and medical emergencies.

The services mentioned above will continue to operate as usual, besides, shops selling essential commodities have been exempted from the purview of the order.

Commercial establishments and markets shall continue to remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays. On all other days, shops are to open from 10 am to 4 pm.
