Sikkim: Forest fire destroys human settlement in Geysing town

GANGTOK, MARCH 8: Human settlement around forested areas are facing sleepless nights as a forest fire today engulfed the Rabdentse Forest of Sikkim's Geyzing town.

Fire fighters said they were finding it difficult to bring the fire under control. There is a fear that the fire may destroy the forest and nearby areas.

Human settlement around these forested areas are facing sleepless nights and heavy damage to forest wealth also cannot be denied.

The Himalayan Baptist School, located near the forest, was closed today due to the spreads of clouds of smoke.
