Sikkim: District Task Force assess COVID-19 vaccination drive in Gangtok

GANGTOK:

A District Task Force meeting to assess the overall COVID-19 vaccination drive was held at District Administrative Center in Gangtok on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by District Collector (South), M Bharani Kumar, alongside police personnel and other officials from the Health Department.

During the meeting, Kumar updated about the status of the COVID-19 vaccine drive in the district and also urged the Health Department to ensure full vaccine coverage for polling personnel.

He also requested the public to get the COVID-19 vaccine from their nearest health centres to prevent the disease from spreading.

DRCHO (South), Junita Yonzon, briefed the gathering about the COVID-19 vaccination process which is being undertaken by the district administration.

She underlined the total number of vaccines available at the district hospital and about other pertinent issues.

She added that the beneficiaries of the vaccine can get their second dose between 28 to 42 days.

It was informed that 8988 beneficiaries aged 60 years and above have been vaccinated to date in the district.

Likewise, 14578 beneficiaries have received COVID-19 vaccination in the South District.
